Meet Ryanne Janel
“Freeing yourself was one thing, claiming ownership of that freed self was another.”
- Toni Morrison
Ryanne Peterson, your friendly neighborhood mental health advocate, CEO of OIC Counseling and Wellness PLLC, and the Director of Counseling Services at Bennett College in North Carolina. She recently hosted the inaugural Black Mental Health conference, Revive, with a mission to foster a community of Black therapists dedicated to collective problem-solving, transparency in their journeys, and developing sustainable solutions and resources.
With nearly a decade of experience as a School Counselor, Ryanne understands the importance of eliminating mental health stigmas in Black and Brown communities. That's why she founded MastHERpiece, a nonprofit guiding Black teenage girls towards their true potential and awarding 13 scholarships to these budding leaders.
Ryanne's impact extends beyond counseling; as the dean of the Durham Awesome Foundation, she contributes to making her city even more awesome by gifting $1000 monthly to projects enhancing Durham's awesomeness, spreading positivity and change.
